Michael Kampen
Artisan, Writer, CNC Specialist
Michael is an accomplished furniture designer and maker living on Vancouver Island.
He has written for Canadian Home Workshop Magazine, Canadian Woodworking Magazine and has been active in their online communities for many years. He also appeared at the Canadian Home Workshop Show in Toronto for several years as a seminar presenter as well as a presenter on a Woodworking Seminar Tour in Western Canada in 2010
In 2010, he was contracted to produce the owners manuals for several new CNC Routers imported by CWI Woodworking Technologies.
From 2000 to the present he has operated his own woodworking shop featuring unique designs and solid wood construction. New technology has always played a part and he now uses three CNC Routers including a Professor HDX CNC Router.
In 2013 an opportunity presented itself to be involved in setting up a new CNC based wood shop. This venture has had great success producing live edge products made from locally harvested fir and cedar which were then milled into slabs at McLean Mill National Historic Site. The live edge work lead to many other opportunities and now games are a major portion of the production.
